Truman State University (http://www.truman.edu) is seeking a Vice President for University Advancement. The Vice President will provide leadership for the University’s Advancement Office that includes fundraising, alumni relations, public relations, and publications units. The Vice President reports to the University President and serves as the liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors to set the direction for the University’s external relations programs, including annual giving, major and principal gifts, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, donor relations, alumni relations, research and prospect management, and capital campaigns. The Vice President for University Advancement serves as a member of the President’s Administrative Council and leads a team of 22 staff members.
Major responsibilities include providing leadership and management for the Advancement staff; serving as the Foundation’s lead fundraiser to manage a portfolio of leadership gift prospects for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities; leading the Foundation’s “Pursue the Future” campaign (2013-2018); serving as the liaison and resource person to the Foundation Board of Directors and its subcommittees to establish priorities and ensure the business and fiduciary responsibilities are conducted in an effective manner.
A bachelor’s degree is required. The ideal candidate will have significant leadership-level advancement experience; possess a comprehensive knowledge of varied fundraising programs; demonstrate superior communication skills and the ability to build relationships and rapport with a wide range of individuals; and have a substantial track record of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts, including six and seven figure gift commitments.
